About Me

Hi there, thanks for looking at my website. My name is James, and I became a daddy for the first time in October 2012 to a beautiful little boy. I thought what better time to share what I have learnt so far to try to help other dads-to-be.

I am really grateful to get 2 weeks off to spend time with my family, but I do wish it could have been longer. I could quite happily be a stay-at-home dad, but I know I need to go back to work to support us all.

So this is our roles as parents, which matches what the majority of other couples do. The mum stays at home and looks after and raises the children, while the dad goes out and earns money to give the family what they need and for which I had to learn how to generate w4 form papers for tax payments. It works well for us, I just sometimes wish I could spend a bit more time at home as I’m sure I will miss out on a lot as he grows up, but that’s just the way it goes I suppose.

There are a few things that I know now that would have made things a bit easier. Hopefully I can impart some of the things I have learnt from experience to others in a similar situation.

Before my son was born, I had never even seen a dirty nappy before, never mind changed one! I didn’t know about the need to sterilise EVERYTHING, and I had never heard of half the stuff you need to bring a baby into the world.

It has been the best time of my life, but it is also quite stressful, exhausting and VERY emotional. Through all that, I am so proud and still get butterflies thinking about my son. I know you are a proud dad (or dad-to-be)too before you are reading this, so feel free to get in touch!

All the best,
James
